2nd Monday meeting incl talk ‘Moving Hives and Uniting Colonies’
14th June 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Hello all –
It is of course now very much in the balance as to whether the final restrictions will be lifted on 21st June, but if they are the July 2nd Monday meeting should be back in the Cherington Arms. In the meantime we will use Zoom for our 2nd Monday meeting on 14th June. George Heighton will as usual host the evening and the programme is as follows:
7:00pm – The meeting opens with two Breakout rooms, the first based around the Winter Bee School group and the second around the Wednesday evening apiary training group. Whilst it is hoped most members involved in either event will attend do remember that anybody is welcome to join either room for what in the past has proved to be valuable general discussion on beekeeping issues.
7:30pm – The main meeting commences with winners of the June 100 Club draw being announced.
7:35pm – Ray Pearce is going to talk to us about his experiences on “Moving Hives and Uniting Colonies”. Ray will be talking based on his own knowledge and experience being an amateur beekeeper – as indeed most of us are. However by way of contrast we will then hear from Dave Richardson who has recently become a member of Shipston Beekeepers. Dave is currently working for a local commercial beekeeping business and has previously worked on bee farms in New Zealand. So it will be fascinating to compare amateur and commercial approaches to these tasks. After Dave has finished his talk we will have a general discussion period enabling questions to be asked about all we have heard.
I hope that many of you will join us for hopefully the last, and very interesting, Zoom 2nd Monday meeting. The login details are in the Members Area.
Looking forward to seeing you on Monday.
